How it began

In 1998, The Handloom House opened as a single shop in Dewas Naka, Indore — built on a simple idea: that a saree should be bought for how it's made, not just how it looks on the shelf. What began with a handful of weaves has grown into three stores across Indore and Ujjain, but the way we choose cloth hasn't changed.

Why we're careful

A saree is easy to buy badly. Powerloom copies are sold at handloom prices; machine prints are passed off as hand block. Over twenty-six years we've learned to tell the difference — and we'd rather lose a sale than sell you something that isn't what it claims to be. Every piece on our shelves is sourced closer to the loom and checked by hand before it reaches you.

• A saree that lasts — and care advice so it keeps its life for years.

The people behind it

We work directly with weaving and printing clusters across Madhya Pradesh and beyond — Chanderi, Maheshwar, Bagh, Bherugarh — and with artisan families whose craft is generations deep. When you buy from us, a fair share of what you pay goes back to the hands that made it.
